The movie was really good, I loved Tom Holland playing as Nate, we’ve had a lot of Indiana Jones adventure type movies released in recent years, and this one is probably my favorite. I didn’t compare the movie to Indiana Jones, I compared it to National Treasure, mainly because it felt more like that film than IJ.
I’ve never played the Uncharted games, but I know the premise of the games, and I felt they did a really good job making the movie into its own thing and not trying to turn the games into a film.
The story of finding Magellan’s gold was a very interesting story I thought, and it made me think back to actual historical events. The movie is not 100% historically accurate, but it never claimed to be and I am happy with that.
The only really minor, really minor things that bugged me were the breaks in realism, but it’s a movie so it didn’t really bug me that much, but I still noticed them.
I didn’t really feel a connection between Nate(Tom Holland) and Sully’s(Mark Wahlberg) characters, it just felt like they had no relationship, I know in the game they’re supposed to be close. Chloe in my opinion, did not really add anything to the film, see helped Nate out in the middle of the movie, then betrays him, and then she’s irrelevant for the rest of the film. Another nit pick, where’s Nates wife? I know in Uncharted Nate has a wife, but she’s no where to be seen in the film.
Overall really good movie, look forward to seeing a sequel.
