I too looked forward to John Irving’s latest book, which has been a huge disappointment. I listened to the audiobook—29 discs, no joke—and am stunned by the self-indulgent lack of editing, numbing repetition and overblown attempt to stretch a thin story into a lengthy novel with embedded screenplay!!!
