I think it's one of the best Sci fi movies ever made and yet utterly ridiculous. A superior being travels light years through space in a light travel capability space ship, crashes on earth and is found by scientists. Then it turns out to be vegetable matter and lives on blood. It then proceeds to eat dogs, lose an arm and regrow another. The idea is utter rubbish and yet as Sci fi it's brilliant. Also it has no communication skills whatsoever. Not in the least bit plausible, but terrific scary monster movie.
