Um, so first off, why did the mum have to die? Like others said, that is kind of cliche. The voices of the singers were high but did have a little emotion in it. For example, Gobi’s song, Wonderful is kind of good and has a true hidden message in it. People keep comparing this to Mulan 2020, but I haven’t seen that before. So I don’t know about it. I do NOT agree with Fei Fei in cutting her hair into a pig sty just because her mum passed away. Like, be a good girl, mourn for like 2 months and go on with life! Stop making a big deal. But I get it. They were extremely close. Oh well.
I guess that IS life.
Anyways, you know how at the end, when Fei Fei returns to earth, she lets the photo burn? I understand why. Everyone says WHAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF TRAVELING TO THE MOON IF YOU LET THE WHOLE PURPOSE DIE AT THE END??! Well, she understood that SHE HAD TO MOVE ON. and like there was no point in just sitting there trying to get over someone’s death but hopelessly not succeeding. That message was clear, at least.
At the end of the movie, (in the credits) it said that the movie was dedicated to Audrey Wells, their screenwriter. She passed away from cancer while Over the Moon was halfway through production. That was very heartwarming and emotional. In conclusion, I rate Over the Moon 3 stars. So and so. I guess.
