It's impossible to even capture how important it was for me to see and bathe in the warm accepting love of this movie, as a 23-year-old who would not even come out to her parents for another 5 years. To see the love within the lesbian and gay couples, as it was, and not as a tragedy, gave me such hope and inspiration. Seeing old people, hand in hand - I remember how that affected me, all these years, even now when I am an elder myself, married in spite of no inkling at all that that would ever be possible, holding hands with my own forever love.
