I am going to take my time with this, but if anyone is looking for an in depth review of this book; you're best looking at Alexis Hall's review.
I say this because this book focuses on the academic study of gender, the politics, the history, the struggles of modern society in addressing this as well as the patriarchy's refusal to accept fault. I do also love how this book acknowledges misandry and issues within that too, but overall, most of this book is an ongoing process for me to study:
New words, new phrases, new view points. It's a brilliant book. If you're thinking about getting this book then you absolutely should- it is one of those books that you get to study or to gain greater understanding of gender. You don't necessarily read a book like this for fun. Hence why I recommend checking out Alexis Hall's review as she encapsulates and understood the book better than my brain can. I am going through this book with a highlighter, a dictionary and also navigating my own journey as a transgender individual, so this book is going to take me a while, but I absolutely intend to devour it the exact same way I read Until I Meet My Husband.
My advice if you are thinking about this book? No review is going to sway you one way or the other, these types of books- if you are drawn to them, there is a reason- recommend it to your library or pay for a second hand copy if you're unsure. I got mine for Waterstones.
