This is such a fantastic series!! This is the first review I have ever left for a show. The character's stories - based on fact - are utterly compelling, intricate, complicated, tragic and even happy. I read an interview with Ben Mendelhson and he said Christian Dior is his favourite role and that he fell in love with Christian. I completely get it - he was an outstanding person: principled, dedicated to his family, had a great sense of humour ... But really, credit to Ben for introducing us to CD. As other reviews have said, Ben M and Juliette Binoche are the best of the best. Some/many of the decisions Coco Chanel made were confounding BUT as she points out to Wertheimer, it's a whole different world for women, especially during a war. Still, it's hard to feel any sympathy for her situation in the end. Cinematically, this show is beautiful - the settings, the music, and of course, the fashion. I said the entire cast is fantastic... I've never seen Maisie Williams before - she plays Dior's so ister, Katherine, who is in the French Resistance, is caught by the Nazis and sent to several prison/work camps..She comes back a starving, barely alive ghost version of her former self. Williams portrays so well the guilt and trauma that Katherine has to work her way through. Prepare for tears, brought on by Williams and Mendelsohn. I highly recommend this fast-paced, entertaining, beautiful series.
