I remember watching this years ago. I initially wasn't going to since I thought it was going to be a cheesy kid show. However, the show maintains kid standard rating while having a real story and content that is serious to an extent while still balancing the kid friendly nature. Still has some of the cheesyness a kid show has, but, it was quite interesting for me. Sadly, they have never gotten around to finishing it, leaving it on a cliff hanger.
I still like the designs of the slugs, never been a fan of their transformed forms, but doesn't take away from things. Was searching for it to watch again, it wasn't on Netflix anymore and so I ended up watching it again elsewhere. Worth atleast trying the first few episodes to see if it is your type of show or not. It's definitely one of the better shows that can be watched by a family including younger audiences.
Just because it has creature variations that you can work with and use powers of dosn't mean it's pokemon, but it wouldn't be impossible to think ot had influence on pokemon concepts. Unlike pokemon, it has a continuous story that develops, character development too that doesn't just dissapear the next episode.
