An enjoyable read that often grabs you buy the arm and pulls you along like an enthralled lover, only to sit you down and force you to reread, then read again certain, more abstract, concepts, while making sure you have google search close at hand for those theories and concepts that are mentioned without sufficient dumming-down. At least, this was my experience and it is that of a complete layman, hence the 4 out of 5 stars.
In any case, the short book (read: short on pages, long on summarized theories and references) has intrigued me enough to go find another of the author’s publications: Statistical Mechanics of Gravity and the Thermodynamical Origin of Time, as it was referenced in this book while discussing Thermal Time. Sadly, this appears to be a scientific paper rather than a mainstream paperback, because Thermal Time seems an exciting topic and I’d love to read more on it.
Oh well, I’ll be hunting for comparable authors along that line.
