Aside from the meme reviews, this movie was great. Film critics honestly take things too seriously when it comes to movies, especially to one where it's aimed primarily at children who like the game (young adults who also enjoy it are secondary).
I should know this because I am 18, a young adult, and my brother is 11, we went and saw the movie and we both enjoyed it. The cinema was mainly full of children and older Minecraft enjoyers who enjoyed the movie. It may look weird with the style but not gonna lie, that's fine, because how they portray things you can do in the game is well done.
Overall, this video game adaptation of a game aimed solely at children is taken too seriously, and I recommend parents to take their children to see it; ignore adult critics because they're not the main audience.
