The music was sensational. The actors were good. Scenes that were changed or omitted that were originally in the musical, in my opinion, affected the movie. And yes, I know that this was a movie versus a stage musical, so I accept the fact that a movie will have more overwhelming theatrics. That was fine. And, although I agree whole-heartedly that there are severe racial issues in the country and around the world, I believe politics should have been left out. But that’s okay, it was kept to a minimum. For me personally, the musical at the Zach Theater in Austin Texas, 2017, was better than the movie.
