Following a string of insular series only interested in nostalgia, Transformers Earthspark course-corrects the series by instead looking forward to what Transformers CAN be, not what it has BEEN. Excellent animation that follows the recent trend of 3D/2D hybrid shows, and heartfelt writing that manages to strike a good balance between silly nonsense shenanigans and genuine drama. Action scenes are insane, too. Most importantly to me as a biracial person, Earthspark shines a big spotlight on the mixed race experience - both in its main human family, and the new bots born on Earth, who are part Earth, part Cybertron. It's a sincere, wholehearted depiction of that experience I have yet to see from almost any other mainstream media.
