My first time reading "Deceptive Calm" by Patricia Skipper is a novel about racial in job, love, and friendship. The book started off bored, but tried put a little drama with treatment of black and white children the klun klun throw rocks at the bus and hospital. This book shows anyone can have little power with money or people you knows. The Dr. have a little power and the nun. The reading of the sex scene was a plus, but dislike that Vanessa feel of being rape by his husband. Vanessa was a black girl/woman, but people believe she was white. Trisha and Vanessa have been best friend since cchildhood.Trisha was a soldier by save Vanessa and her son for a cold lake. Over all this book was great and happy at the end with Vanessa and her first love.
