The best accolade I can give Glad 2 is that it was a fun movie. I don't think I was once wondering why I was watching it, which unfortunately is often the case for at least 5 to 20 minutes of any given movie I sit through in a movie theatre. After a summer of bad 'sequels' that bored the hell out of me I was a little leery going in, so this review is somewhat prejudiced by the low expectations. High expectations usually lead to disappointment... I think the story can stand on its own. It's not just a retelling of the original story (which alas the last Alien movie was...), though admittedly, it was peppered with cliches, but, after 125 years of cinema, there's no truly original story out there, except Jojo Rabbit and that steals from Anne Frank, so you can't bitch too much about cliches. Will the actors win awards? Probably not, but given this year's competition maybe... Is there blood? Yes. Is there love? A modicum. Do all the arena battles make sense? No. Will you sit through the credits? Probably not...
