This film contains every cliche you could imagine possible to get into a film set in rural Ireland in the nineteen twenties. Essentially it is a fantasy about people, especially two former friends, who live pointless lives, arguing about trivialities and making each other miserable. As a film it is visually stunning and finely acted but it needs to be seen for what it is: a dark fantasy. As such it is a good, but not a great, movie.
