Overhyped!!! All the reviewers out of SXSW who praised it as one of the best movies of the year- Eric Vespe, Perri Nemiroff, Erik Davis- you need to get your eyes checked. I was so excited to see this movie as am a huge Alex Garland fan and it didn't have the depth it should have. I was bored and waiting for it to get great. It didn't explain a lot. Why would California team with Texas out of all states?? How were the check and balances of our gov't destroyed to enable the President to wield dictatorship?? I get its a movie but at the same time make it somewhat convincing. In terms of war photography/journalism etc- NIGHTCRAWLER was better at communicating the msg of the trials and tribulations of news reporting. I wish to god SXSW had not hyped it so much cause I probably would have actually enjoyed it than thinking it was the best movie of the year and being disappointed.

I love James Gunn and Guardians is one of my favorite movies but this was a complete miss. I seriously think this is one of the worst movies I've seen all year. It reminded me a ton of his film SLITHER which I wasn't a fan of either. If I told you there was giant pink/blue starfish attacking Margot Robbie and Idris Elba you think I was joking. I am not. Enough said.
