Scousie Red

I liked the last series but the new one..? Not so much. It feels like they've misunderstood what was funny and have extended the characteristics that are cartoonist rather than write more cleverly. I really feel this series has everyone as pretty horrible. The dad was a freak as was the neighbour but now I hate the boys and the mum. Milson is the only likeable character. I don't mind horrible characters but they are annoying and unlikeable.

I'm a huge fan of regional folk stories and legends. This is just that and done well. It pays respect to its subject and is so unhollywood that many might feel uncomfortable. Well acted,well written, great effects, and the feel of the piece is just right. I didn't want it to end. A magical fairy tale for adults.

It feels like fan fiction too often. Whether it's ripping off Alien so closely I'm surprised they weren't sued, or tropes and characters that you know so well, it doesn't feel original. I got tired of the 'if it can go wrong it will' - at one point I said out loud, "just give up and die, clearly Fate hates you". Choices, situations and even explanations just don't feel real. Someone kills in self defence, is hated for it, and never explains it was self defence no matter what could happen to them. The AI does less than my coffee machine, and that's not working properly. It's not gritty, it's bad.
