Having never seen or read or really even heard about Nesferatu I attended the movie theater on Christmas and we watched this movie. I just didn’t like it at all. Maybe if I knew more about it beforehand I don’t know. While others in my party loved it and praised several different aspects (including the acting and cinematography) of the film and even explained some of the plot to me afterwards I was still unswayed and really just couldn’t stand three things about the movie (4 if you count the Count’s mustache!): 1) epic slow pace with very few thrills or scares. needed to be much scarier, or me. 2) couldn’t understand the words coming out of Oriok’s mouth. he needed subtitles throughout the film. 3) very long. So, the verdict is in amongst my family. 7 attendees, 3 loved, 3 didn’t like and 1 that said “meh” with a hand gesture that means “meh.” It was the first time I’ve been in a theater where people booed at the end and those people probably drowned out those who clapped at the end.
