I would actually say... 4 1/2. Very well done. Beautifully executed and an entertaining storyline. It's good to see John Lassiter back on his feet again. Disney wishes that they could create something this well done. Kudos to all the creatives involved.

And yet another origin story. Do we really need another origin story? Doesn't everyone in the world know how Spider-Man came to be? Oh wait, they've changed the origin. Now the magic spider has come from some other dimension.Alright, putting that aside, It's… A solid OK. I don't know why he's wearing some kind of T-shirt costume, With exposed web tanks with hoses, but it sort of works..: OK. The drawing style looks a little like Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby and Don Heck were all trying to meet a tight deadline, while pushing through the flu. At least it looks better than some bad Filmation or Hanna-Barbera show.I see what they're trying to do, but it's really no more than just OK. Trying a little hard to be cool, but I guess I'll give it a go.

Lightning just does not strike twice in the same place. An attempt to re-capture the magic of the amazing original, but this one just completely runs off the rails. Something’s missing, is it clumsy direction? Maybe. Even more wooden performances? Plodding script? I don’t know. It still looks pretty good. It’s just that it’s just OK. We could’ve done without it.

Having been a fan of Captain Marvel since I first discovered the old 1940s comics at a comic convention, I was apprehensively looking forward to this movie. My biggest fear was that the DC movie machine, just can’t seem to ever get it right. They always degrade every project with darkness, when the characters that exist in their universe were all originally written in a light manner for small children. In that respect, at least they got Zachary Levi’s interpretation right. He is the perfect choice for the original Captain Marvel. He plays the role with the same childlike charm as it was portrayed in the original comic books. And including Freddie Freeman as Captain Marvel Junior was a nice touch. Sadly DC just couldn’t help but ruin a good thing with it’s inevitable darkness. The Dr. Sivana portrayal is pure DC evil cliché. He ruins the entire charm of the movie. As do the horrific seven deadly sins. Half the movie is light and comedic and the other half is morbid. Had they only resisted the darkness, and possibly gone for more of a Gene Hackman/Lex Luthor approach, the film would be worthy of more than three stars.

An excellent representation of the original source. Artistically and graphically perfect. The story moves along at an excellent pace. A Hollywood enigma.

Good simple matinee movie. Nothing all that complex here. A good prequel for the franchise, that’s fairly well acted and directed. Overall… Entertaining.

More than just a direct copy of the British version, this adaption is creatively original. The rare networks sitcom that I would watch. Excellent.

Not the worst movie ever made, but definitely in the running. The one thing this movie does accomplish, it proves that just being a Marvel production, doesn’t mean it has to be good. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but this incredibly ponderous movie, makes Green Lantern look like an Oscar winner.
