A wonderful and enlightening look into the life of the legendary Cicely Tyson. I learned so much about her upbringing, the pivotal role family played in shaping her, and especially how her mother influenced the woman she became. It was fascinating to see how she found her way into acting—it's always incredible to realize how a single connection or moment can completely shift the course of a life. This book was deeply inspiring, filled with the love and grace that Cicely embodied. I was especially struck by her relationship with Miles Davis—I had no idea how much they meant to each other, and it was eye-opening to see how their bond wove through her life and took up such a significant part of her story. It’s an easy, engaging read that beautifully charts Cicely’s journey exactly as she experienced it. I’m grateful to have had the chance to take in her story from her own perspective.
