I am not a tv watcher & I'm kind of a movie snob, until very recently, another story. I absolutely fell in LOVELOVELOVE with this show!!! I've been treating myself to an episode a night. The hosts make me giggle to myself, at home. Ugh. I love living vicariously through all their travels, and especially as Caroline swims in the pools and Piers picks a spot to sketch out & explain the structure. I geek on every paint color choice or unveiling of indoor/outdoor spaces, nook & the crannies. Seriously, my heart beats faster and skips a few in the process. But, last night, while watching the show on Forests, I got a sick sinking feeling that I could not ignore. I do not like it when trees are cut down, nature is "leveled", mountains blown out for humans to put their sometime or human-centered dream houses. Even when its just four trees. Its a little like having a gardening/hunting show. I think houses should only be built, no matter how gregarious or outspoken, in a space where there is already a human footprint. There are plenty of houses, on the show, that have been built with nature in the forefront of the mind. What if we only showcased & shined a light on houses that did not kill trees or fell forests in the process of becoming. What message would taking a stand like that put out into the world?
