I beat Callisto Protocol today. Here's my unwanted review: The game fills the Dead Space sized hole left in my heart after having no new games for years, although it's not a perfect fit. The universe and setting established in The Callisto Protocol feels very similar to DS and I would even go so far as to say I can EASILY picture all this horror happening in the same canon across the universe. The focus on melee combat and dodging is great and a solid differentiator from DS albeit a bit clunky, especially when fighting multiple enemies at a time. The enemy variation is a bit lacking at times, going whole sections of the game with only one enemy type and one ideal gameplay style, and the last hour of the game especially felt very rushed leaving the ending feeling overall lackluster. Despite this, I have really enjoyed the game and would recommend it to any horror/DS fans looking for a new game to fill that similar void in their heart. I hope they have story DLC soon as I would love to hop back into that world but until then, the upcoming Dead Space remake can't come soon enough.
