How did this get nearly 7 stars on IMDb? Generous is an understatement.
I had the misfortune of watching All the Money in the World while on holiday with limited options—and I want those 2+ hours back.
The film drags through a painfully stretched ransom plot that never grips. The kidnapping—meant to be the emotional core—is hollow, thanks to a son character so devoid of personality he’s instantly forgettable. The cast feels miscast and underwhelming across the board. Michelle Williams does her best to salvage the role, but even her effort can’t rescue a flat, uninspired script. Mark Wahlberg adds nothing. Christopher Plummer leans into the same well-worn mannerisms we've seen before, bringing no new dimension to the role.
And Ridley Scott? Hard to believe this sluggish, lifeless project bears his name. For a director of his caliber, this is a huge disappointment.
May have been based on real life events but doesn't excuse this lifeless execution.
In short: a disappointing, bloated mess. Not worth the time or the film it was shot on.
