I purchased Rise of the Ronin about a year ago and, for whatever reason, I put off playing it until just recently and I must say, I had no idea the fun that I was missing out on. I love the artistic style of the game design. The storyline is compelling and rich with unique, and interesting, characters. It’s challenging, but not in a stressful way. Quite the contrary actually. I find ROTR to be an enthralling, yet relaxing, game. There’s plenty to unlock byway of skills, weapons (both melee & guns), attire for your character and side quests scattered throughout. I chose to create a female protagonist for my first play through. So far, I am loving that decision. I am not sure how the experience would have differed, or in a better way, had I chosen a male protagonist instead. So far it seems that playing as a female has felt more attuned to the story’s theme. All in all, Rise of the Ronin is a beautifully crafted piece of art that I am thankful to have chosen to finally play. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite games of all-time.
