If you're looking for an exciting sequel to the Black Witch series where Elloren learns to harness her powers and grows as a person while fighting for the Resistance... This isn't it. The first two books are great. The third book is a mess. Its hard to explain while avoiding spoilers but this book is a glorified New Adult romance novel. There's nothing wrong with those books but its a disappointing departure from the vivid and diverse fantasy genre of the first two. It feels like a fevered pipe dream that jumps between different perspectives in the first third of the book, only to mostly focus on Elloren's love life in the last two parts. It feels like decisions are made, by the author, purely for the benefit of it. it's frustrating and has very little of the heart in the first two books.
