I've been playing this game since the ow 2 launch. Never played the first one though. I would and have avidly advised my friend's to NOT play this game. Unless your playing with a 5 stack the game is an utterly soul crushing experience. The character balancing is horrid. Between almost every patch there is a character or two who will simply dominate and it will take ow 3 patches to fix it and their fix solution is often either to complexly nerf the character or barely change anything. Or on some occasions, nerf an unrelated character. If you wanna try playing support, forget about it. You have almost no impact on the game no matter how well you play and half the time you get blamed for unrelated issues. Not to mention everyone and their dads are trying to kill you, and if you get bad teammates it just turns into a respawn generator. Tank switches from being the most important/impactful role to being useless every other patch. So at the end of the day the only role that gives SOME feeling of satisfaction and impact is dps. Unless of course the team counter picks you or picks a sniper character. Can't play a character well/don't enjoy a character that counter snipers? whelp guess your joining the respawn simulator. The community is overall toxic, especially if your a girl or LGBTQ+. The skins are overpriced, which is something you'll hear in alot of these games BUT in my opinion they're not even worth it. The skins are about on par to what other FTP FPS games are but you get way less value. For example I've played both Valorant and Leauge of Legends. In Valorant you pay for cool gun skins that often have cool animations/sounds that you can appreciate during the game. In LOL you have character skins that you can see throughout the game as you are in 3rd person AND the skins change the abilities appearance/sounds. In overwatch you get character skins... that you can't see 90% of the time. The game is in 1st person. You essentially never see the skins unless your loading into a game or emoting. During the actually rounds you don't get to experience the skins at all. Your essentially paying for other people to get to look at a cool skin. The ranked system is an actual joke. The unrated games I play are often more evenly matched that the competitive ones. You get about one game every 20 that's actually fun, competitive and roughly evenly matched. The rest is either your team just dominating the enemy, which gets really boring after a while or your team getting dominated, which is even less fun. Not to mention how undeserved kills/deaths feel half the time. God forbid you look at towards the enemy team and get one shot by a character spamming one of the only entrances to an area. The game is essentially geared almost entirely towards cooperative team play, meaning that the best way to enjoy it is by having 4 equally skilled friend's ready to play at all times. Unless of course the enemy team has a sniper character that can one shot 70% of the characters from across the map. Overall even after months and months of being out, the game feels lazy, soulless, and ant-fun in everyway aside from the visuals and lore. Those are alright I guess.
