ON SWIFT HORSES shows both sides of gay sex, from the bored, bi-curious housewife, Muriel, played by Daisy Edgar-Jones, to the random sexual assaults that some men suffer, Julius (Jacob Elordi, who played Elvis in the movie, Priscilla), and lets define who they become. The main premise is that everyone deserves a second chance, as well as the chance to do what makes them happy in choosing relationships. Gambling, deceit, and honesty are also dealt with and yes, there are many, many sex scenes in this movie. However, it is questionable what this movie has to do with horses other than two racetrack scenes. But the film ends with the main character, Julius, riding off into the night on a horse. Is this a metaphor?

ONE OF THEM DAYS is something almost everybody can relate to. This movie is hard-core ghetto, reminiscent of the blaxploitation films of the 70s. The N-word, which is inextricably tied to the legacy of racial oppression still felt today, is used more than once. The story is about the escapades of two very talented Black girls living in a sub-standard Los Angeles apartment complex trying to make it. They encounter female rivalry, chicken-eating, and unemployed boyfriends plus a notorious gang that threatens their lives. This film is extremely funny including hair braiding and twerking episodes. NOSFERATU shows an unusual twist to vampire movies — a monster who has sex with his victims as well as sucking their blood. Masterfully shot in almost film-noir black and white style, it is a monochrome with a wonderful, dark and chilling atmosphere. That it is also a period piece from 1830’s Germany during a rats caused plague adds to the intrigue.

SING SING —- Nobody, likely expected a movie to come out of this Correctional Facility made inside this institution and starring a cast with actual inmates themselves. This movie highlights the astonishing success of the RTA (Rehabilitation Through Arts) Program established by an inmate there. Accolades and praise to this incredible movie.

BORDERLANDS Sucks. While it’s good to see older women actors, Jamie Lee Curtis, instead of over-the-hill superhero men, this script doesn't do her justice. Kevin Hart’s debut as a superhero is hilarious in itself, but what is the story they are trying to tell and why? The actors seem to be on a non-sense journey through the same borderlands used in Furiosa, borrowed from Mad Max. The same borderlands that are used in Deadpool Wolverine. The same borderlands crossed in at least two or three other Marvel movies. Tireing!!

Reading about the effort to produce a Hollywood movie (in Savanna, GA I think) is why I gave it 3 stars. I've never seen a movie so poorly executed. But I loved the characteristics - Hoprah Winfall, Taylor Pherry, etc. and seeing Jsmie Foxx in a shoulder-length wig playing God is hilarious. As well as Mickey Rourke playing the Devil. This movie does have tremendous star power - Tisha Campbell, Vivica A. Fox, Jasmine Guy, etc. . Too bad the scenes were so did-jointed which made what could have been a great story seem off-putting. What a waste of talent, time, and money!
