I watched it last night. The noise in the cinema before it started was the loudest I’d ever heard and I wondered if it would quieten down when the film began. Far from it, it seemed that the audience was mostly teenage girls who, to my astonishment (I don’t get out much) knew and sang along all the way through. Rather than spoil the performance this enhanced it - an unforgettable experience I am minded to repeat very soon. A brilliant work of art, the best film version of a stage musical I have ever seen.
