Maxwell Choka

Horrible movie overall. Save yourself the pain and just don't see it. Laughable, uninspired dialogue. "Scary" parts just involve 1 second jump cuts to a spooky face and maxed-out volume choral vocals. Nonsensical plot points even for a fantasy/folklore movie. Felt like 1/3 of the movie was just the same slow, swiveling shot in a dark room. As someone who enjoyed the witch, I cannot emphasize how disappointing this movie was. The only thing that would make me hate this movie less is if I learned that Robert Eggers was blackout drunk the entire time during writing/filming. Wilhem Dafoe was the only spark of light in this dark, amorphous mass of glop.
