This adaptation just couldn’t work out what it was - a mixture of period protocols and dialogue and ‘Bridgerton’ modern-edge quirk. It was neglecting all the attributes that make Anne’s strength of character and patience the thread of Austen’s tale, compromising Austen’s style in some vain attempt to attract a modern audience who will never appreciate the simplicity and cordiality of Austen’s life and time. This could’ve been so much better
