I thought this film was better than "War of the Worlds" with Tom Cruise. And that insufferable screaming child one hoped would be taken by the aliens and never heard from again. Harsh? Not really. It's what most viewers thought but were afraid it was not acceptable to say. Nick Cage's acting was some of his better moments. His interactions with his "sons" was believable. His sacrifice was to be expected. Really enjoyed seeing him in a good role.

Not great. I thought I would enjoy the film, but this is not 'Mame'. I think the first choice with Katharine Hepburn in the title role, would definitely have made a much better film. I love Maggie Smith, but not in this film.
