Review of Fake Profile
What a disappointment. I truly thought that in Season 2 the series would redeem itself by allowing Angela to avenge the betrayal she endured from Camila and Miguel. Instead, the narrative continued to push the idea that Camila and Miguel are the “poor victims who weren’t allowed to live their love in peace,” which is absurd given their behavior throughout the series.
Camila and Miguel are portrayed as sex addicts, immoral, and ultimately both cheaters. Miguel, who was unfaithful to Angela for decades with numerous women, became obsessed with Camila only because she was no longer available to him after marrying David. Camila, in turn, betrayed David—who supported her through her darkest moments—just days after their wedding.
The fact that this series glorifies infidelity and paints Miguel and Camila as the heroes deserving of pity is twisted, especially when considering the chaos and pain they caused. Season 2 completely destroyed Angela’s character by portraying her as unstable, instead of allowing her to take a stand for the betrayal she suffered or seek justice for her father’s accidental death. This approach robbed Angela of the depth and agency her character deserved.
Additionally, Miguel’s constant, inexplicable appearances to “save” Camila make the story feel forced and unrealistic, undermining the more natural storytelling of Season 1. The ending felt contrived and overly dramatic, losing the grounded appeal that initially made the show compelling. I got hopeful when Camila was left almost blind and Miguel almost was set up for the murders but nothing ever happened to them.
Season 1 had a solid foundation, but Season 2 was a missed opportunity. Instead of delivering justice for Angela, the series chose to victimize the stripper homewrecker ( Camila) and the sex addict ( Miguel) who lived off a wealthy woman ( Angela) for years and had cheated on her for the same time. It’s a shame to see such potential wasted.
Lately these series are becoming nothing but pornographic content.
