Personally, SRK’s personality was too big for the character driven stories that Hirani writes. He is still really good, but his characteristics are not consistent. For an example, a practical Hardy, who was always optimistic and daring in every situation in India becomes this pessimistic and dramatic guy in England. That was atypical. Story for me seems like it was written specifically for SRK. Unlike other movies of Rajkumar, the tone of Dunki is a much darker, and a bit rushed at times. Nonetheless, Hirani takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. Vicky Kaushal’s character was great to watch.
