Prior to reading Guernica, I confess I had no knowledge of the Spanish Civil War. This book helped me understand the horrors suffered by ordinary families by their own countrymen. It has taught me that WW2 was not the first sign of atrocities committed during the 20th century in 'civilised' Europe. More people should read this. A brilliant book, I wish someone would make this into a film which would help to educate everyone.
