I understand that movies “inspired by true life” are often a loose interpretation of the truth. But this was so far from the incredible life he lead that it was an utter disappointment. A boring ill-fated love story against a vague and watered-down history. It could have been an exciting story of an amazing man who led a fascinating life. He was poorly written and portrayed as a snobbish and arrogant man who turned to the revolution only after being snubbed by his friends and jilted by his lover. How could they make a life that was so vibrant into a movie that was so dull?
