Not worth watching, a terrible sequel. The perfect example of an "idiot plot."
I had high hopes for this movie. 28 Days Later is great, maybe even a masterpiece. It started out strong, great opening scene. Then we see they are trying to resettle Great Britain. A little stupid but I can suspend my disbelief, after all, all of the infected either have or will starve, right? Anyways, it's pretty good until we see these 2 children breaking out. These are children who must have been through some things during this outbreak. I'm sure they've had a lot of close calls with these zombies. Even with the tremendous risk that there could still be some, they break out of the settlement just to go get a picture of their presumably dead mother. What kind of children have the courage to do such a thing? They aren't scared at all until they get separated for a bit, leading to the younger brother nearly getting infected by their mother, who survived the virus. Anyways, once there, they strap her to a bed and run some tests, obviously. She could be the key to a cure, but Idris Elba's character won't have it. He says they should terminate her. During this argument, the "decoy main character" Carlyle, the father of these 2 children, he's a janitor or something for the settlement, sneaks in to see his wife, who he actually abandoned to save himself during the prologue. He knows something's wrong with her, surely he heard from somebody about this, how she has the virus. But by far the most stupid part is how NOBODY is guarding her, despite her importance and the risk that she could go feral. He can just waltz on in there. And he did, and he idiotically kisses her and gets infected. Somehow he opens the door to get back out and rushes at 2 soldiers with guns, they don't think to shoot him? So, so stupid. There's a lot more plot holes, plot contrivances, and other dumb things in the film, but those alone should tell you why it's stupid. Those things alone ruin the rest of the film.
