What a first series, incredible. Seemingly everyone against the series accuses the 5 stars voters as bots. Note it, itโs their only argument.
I played all the games and read the books and Iโm impressed. It stands alone. They have overcome the panoply of issues I thought impossible when intertwining narratives of gaming, books and harsh realities of appeasing the hardcore fans. They have by no means perfected it and although some call for the Master Chiefs mask to be on โat all timesโ itโs clear we must see him maskless in order to understand the character and attribute our own personal experience to this new world.
This first series was so unexpected in its narrative. Itโs true we have seen none of the game or the book but they have set the tone and brought to life (hopefully) the future series by giving us groundwork for the true struggle by explaining why we will see what is to come and given the audience more than we asked for.
Characterisation is on point. Master Chief has to be flawed and has to be on a mission (thatโs entertainment) otherwise itโs nothing and the depth to which they have given the 2 worlds is tantalising which I hope paves the way for an even better 2nd series. It has to build on this foundation , otherwise it will be a flop.
Finally, i would like to see more game scenes realised and better script writing but I appreciate the challenge in weaving non-game scenes and book based story narratives to tie TV scenes together. Unfortunately, those naysayers would bore the hell out of the rest of us with the ideas they have spouted and arenโt here to enjoy life or the series, it seems.
Give it time. Itโs better than the other attempts. And I guarantee, the 1 stars will be back to write again to watch. But, the true test will be in its second series. I feel itโs set up well and will be made good. I
