A bizarre and extraordinarily frustrating, fantasy-scfi show, riddled with schizophrenic character motivations, that are slopped together with cliched, meaningless dialogue. ("Your final lesson is one you teach yourself. โWhen youโre looking up to heroes, you donโt have to face whatโs right in front of you.") Hollow, contradictory platitudes encapsulated within meta-personal psychobabble, the show is relentlessly condescending to the viewer, and it's own characters within the story. The 'character' motivations are annoying, vague, then loosely hot glued together by strained, childish reasoning. It's storytelling, that avoids any consequence, and as a result, never challenges its own banality. Any action that approaches cohesion, quickly collapses with a scribble scrabble hand wave, and a dull smattering of buzzwords like Jedi, and Sith. When they are mentioned, they are consistently absent of any moral or logical context. The Acolyte is less a fun, coherent story in an established universe, and more of a hyperventilating, current day lecture, with no point whatsoever. There's a palpable indifference to structure and meaning, and I hope they make a season 2, I would likely buy Disney stock if it drops to $50 a share.
