It took a lot of effort to get invested enough to finish this book. The characters, while real in their complexity of good and not-so-good traits, were mostly unlikable. The profanity seemed to actually reduce the intelligence of the characters as opposed to adding any kind of emotion or depth to their words. And when it ended, I felt like hours had been stolen from me, used up on people I barely cared about more at the last page than the first. And maybe I’m a simpleton who missed the deeper more complex point but the wrap up of the book made no real sense to me. I saw value in the story that was being told but the delivery left a lot to be desired, from my perspective.
