Terrible movie, so cringey and strayed pretty far from the actual Cinderella story. The villains in the story were made too nice, the prince was arrogant and was made to feel as if he didn’t fit in or like his position but at the same time very much wants to be king. The prince even gives up being king for Cinderellas success, basically saying only her dream matters.
They try to make it seem original in a way but how do you do that when not even the music is original. So many great actors in a not so great movie. You can also compare the setting and the overall feel of this movie to other Cinderella movies, and the ones taking place in the same timeline actually gave off that vibe that makes you feel like you’re there in the old times seeing an actual fairytale unfold before you. Instead, this movie feels like it was happening in present times with fake sets and forced happiness. In the scene where she was designing she was wasting a lot of paper which was not cheap at all in the Cinderella timeline, it was pretty expensive and so were the beautiful fabrics Cinderella had in her possession, which as a maid who I doubt was even paid, definitely couldn’t afford any of it.
One last thing I want to add, a lot of the comedy here was force-full, it never seemed natural or even funny and just came off as cringey. Even Cinderella herself was forcefully quirky and I went through some serious second-hand embarrassment.
Just wanted to share my opinion since I felt I didn’t resonate with other five-star opinions being shared. No offense, just don’t agree
