This game, and franchise, has become my most played and favorite series of all time but I can't give it a perfect score. For as much as I love the game it has a lot of flaws that people overlook. Destiny 2 is an ActionMMO with RPG elements where you play as a Guardian. A warrior for the light and the traveller. You wield three elements, soon to be four on November 10th, 2020 with the launch of the new expansion, 'Beyond Light', arc, solar, and void, and an arsenal of weapons to defeat enemies of the last city on earth. You complete activities in the game such as quests, patrols, strikes, raids, and crucible PvP to increase your power level and get better and more powerful weapons and armor. This games gunplay is superb. The soundtrack is masterful. And most of the loot is really good and unique. If you are thinking about getting into this game I would highly recommend it. But wait until November 10th when the new expansion launches. As of right now the new player experience is extremely confusing and it doesn't point you in any direction whatsoever. On November 10th though they are revamping the new player experience. Once you sink your teeth into this game and hit endgame is when it gets good and bad. You start to realize a lot of content is irrelevant at such a high level and the meta doesn't allow that much variation. There is enough there to keep things fresh but Bungie does not update the sandbox enough to keep things ever evolving every three months. Weapons really only get large tuning in the fall of every year with the launch of each new and big expansion. Destiny 2 is a great game at its core but Bungie is still having an identity crisis with it and I hope they can sort that out soon because once there is a rock hard vision for this game then its going even more place than it already has before. With all of that being said if you are looking for a new game to sink hundreds, or even thousands of hours into, look no further than Destiny 2. I posted this review over a year ago before Beyond Light came out, and a lot of my complaints have been addressed. Bungie is using the seasonal artifact to bring in new and meta shifting mods every three months and sandbox/balance changes are now coming at a much more frequent cadence. The games story has taken a front seat and the seasonal model is stronger than ever. I would recommend Destiny 2 to anyone looking for a great new game to sink their teeth into.
