I was expecting to laugh more and be more entertained by this film, but I found it a distinct letdown. Having the potential to be good, it failed to reach this potential. I chuckled out loud a couple of times, there was a kind of feel-good message in the short saga, but the acting most particularly by the actress who played Thelma's daughter (seriously, what was she, or the director thinking, to do such a caricature of a character?!), and the simultaneously boring and frenetic family dynamics which padded the story in a gratuitous way were painful to endure. Thelma's friend was my favourite in the film, and did the best job, imo, followed by her grandson, but I think the director/producers did not succeed in what they probably set out to do, and I found Thelma's character somewhat less than likeable. That being said, the story was primarily positive while also showcasing some of the sad and difficult aspects of ageing, with humour at times, but overall I didn't really like this film and left disappointed in having spent money to see it.
