The movie must be seen with the right expectations in advance and you will absolutely love it. It's a Mission Impossible of a different genre than its predecessors. It's a heavy movie.
And you've got to respect Tom Cruise and Christopher Mcquarrie for that. They are not afraid to innovate and break the rules. That's what art is about.
The first hour or so is a thriller/drama that needs concentration and to follow conversations attentively. It's very enjoyable to watch and very well written despite the complexity of the plot. The level of details is impressive.
Afterwards it goes on a full mission mode. The submarine sequence is out of this world, has to be seen on IMAX. Nothing my eyes has seen before. The soundtrack is on point. Acting is great. Tom Cruise's performance is A game, very emotional.
Fallout remains my favorite and holds a special place in my heart. But this entry is one of the best in the series. Definitely way better than Dead Reckoning. Dead Reckoning does not prepare you for it at all. And this might be the problem, Dead Reckoning is a cartoon compared to this one.
The Final Reckoning is the epic grand finale this 30 year old franchise deserves. An enormous spectacle that must be witnessed in the biggest theater with your full attention. Enjoy!
