There are a lot of things I liked and disliked about this documentary. I enjoyed the sense of adventure and DIY-related elements. What I did not like was their anti-American rhetoric. Before I continue, let me say that I’m a natural-born American citizen and my political views are medium-left. I can relate to the rudeness of border agents at the border in the movie. I’ve had similar experiences. BUT it seemed like they were biased against the United States. It seemed like they were most upset about that, then proceeded through the US without any interaction with Americans nor any positive comments about the people / food / etc. Fast forward to the Mexican portion of the movie... they clearly voice their concern about the tigers and the mistreatment of other animals but were unwilling to speak up about them. Then the Mexican police surround their bus with tanks and machine guns and even suspect the Mexican police of planting cocaine on them, but only expressed a mild concern versus their US border experience. The rest of the time in Mexico they go on and on about the people and food, nothing about the poverty, drug cartel, or the un-drinkable water. The United States is nowhere near perfect but this couple only focused on the bad parts and none of the good parts of this country.
