Laurie Lyckholm

This poem embodies it's theme. It has stuck with me since the first time I heard it. It helps me relate to young men with whom I have never had the chance to really know and rarely even became acquainted, unless they were a patient or in the family of a patient. It really shows how poetry can bridge gaps and help someone understand the experience of another human being. Gwendolyn Brooks is magnificent.
