Mưa đỏ (Red rain) is a movie made to celebrate Vietnam Independent day so if you are wondering what to do during this holiday, this film is the perfect choice for you.
It follow a group of teenagers and college students into the battle at Quảng Trị citadel. The films not only features them, but also add some scenes to describe people on the side of South Vietnam (Việt Nam cộng hòa). This approach is quite new because most of the previous film about wars barely explore this aspect and focus on the North Vietnam more (Việt Nam cộng sản).
The film has successfully shown the cruel reality of war, which I quote from the film "this war is pointless". It is really emotional, yet there are happy moments, in which the soldier's mind feel free from the war and genuine thought about love, family, and friend appear.
I can feel that the film makers are really invested in this film, and if you want to support them and watch this amazing film, don't hesitate. You can also watch it if you don't know Vietnamese as the film has subtitles for foreigners.
