SPOILERS. Itโs good, it certainly develops the characters more than the other movies and we learn more about the culture of the high table. Action sequences were visually incredible and mostly unique with scenes like the roundabout sequence, the final duel and the battle at the continental. The film ties up most if not all loose ends and provides a solid conclusion.
However, I thought the killing off of Charon right at the start was really sad, also in a horrible way, rather ironic. Rip Lance. But there was much more potential for his character to have a larger role in the film. The action sequences were nowhere near as gory or brutal as those in John Wick Three, the sequences in this movie also felt a lot more unrealistic and in some cases just silly. Albeit, the movies are ridiculous but John Wick three managed to maintain a sense of satisfaction and quality free of cringe. I remember laughing in shock and being so impressed during certain moments of John Wick three. This movie, less so. Perhaps the only time was when the fat German dude lands on his neck.
The death of Wick himself was a let down because essentially all the movies were for nothing. 4 movies trying to earn his freedom only to die 5 minutes after gaining it. What a shame. Also means the likelihood of John Wick 5 is very low.
The club scene, the one shot overhead scene and any scene with Winston and the Bowery king stood out. Overall an excellent movie but sad to see the series end. Would have been nice to see some older characters return, I wish it was more of an all out fight against the high table with Winston and the Bowery king getting involved in the action because it still felt like it was just John and his affairs that were the centre of attention.
While itโs not the best in the series. The series itself will go down in history.
In order of excellence I would put the movies in the following order:
3,1,4,2
