I do not often write reviews, but The Whale compelled me to make an exception. This film resonated with me on a deeply personal level. For a long time, I have viewed myself as a flawed individual. However, after witnessing Ellieโs character, I found a surprising sense of perspective and even solace.
The film is profoundly moving. At times almost unbearably heartbreaking. Yet beautifully crafted. The character development, particularly of Charlie and Ellie, is executed with remarkable nuance and emotional depth. Their dynamic is complex, raw, and painfully honest, and in many ways, it mirrors aspects of my own experience.
I was genuinely touched by this film. It is a powerful, intimate portrayal of humanity, guilt, and the longing for redemption. The Whale is not just a film I loved. It is one I will carry with me.
