Went with high hopes, but sadly it did not work for me at all. Starting with some positives: -
1) Vicky Kaushal acting was good, he has put in efforts which were visible, but the entire characterization was similar across the years, can;t see variance in that...
2) Overall creation of that era was really good, it felt like we were watching a film on old times.
Constructive and negative inputs: -
1) Too many details shown at a very high level, too many things moving too fast: - 1st we are in pre-independence era, there is loose mention about WW-II, then partition, then war.. I was able to relate a bit, but my kids and family were not able to relate and the movie didn't did justice in bringing these major milestone o life..
2) War footage, loud music doesn't create any attraction or graduer to movie at all...
3) Too many characters, except for Sam and his wife, all characters were very superficial, I wasn't able to relate to them.. We had so many strong movies on these leaders like Indira Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Pandit Nehru.. Thus totally let down with these characterization and little role for them...
4) I can't hold myself, but to compare this movie with some other army based movies I have seen and enjoyed like Shershah recently, then Lakshya.. Then there was high benchmark like Prahaar and Border...
Overall good attempt and efforts, but the expectations were too high and movie doesn't met it.. Looks like the team wanted to showcase a lot within in 2:30 Hours and failed to do justice.. Taking 1 part of Field Marshall life and focusing on brining that phase alive might have done far more justice..
