I was so looking forward to this movie and was hugely let down by it. Love and Thunder couldn’t decide what kind of movie it wanted to be, so instead a cohesive film, we received a “comedic” horror movie aimed at children. Notice how “comedic” is in quotes, because nearly all of the jokes fell flat and felt forced. Thor was a parody of himself and it just did not work with Christian Bale’s (excellent) depiction of Gor.

There were some nice pieces of universe building that I enjoyed, but ultimately I felt like this movie was trying too hard and the plot was a little too convenient. 1. Where did Heimdal’s son come from? Why have we NEVER heard of him and his son’s mother, who is featured in the movie? It’s awfully convenient to have this new character we have never heard of who has the same power as Heimdal be taken and the key to finding the stolen children. 2. If Thor could always give people with “the power of Thor,” why didn’t he use that ability when fighting Thanos? 3. Could Mjolnir always reforge itself and just refused to do so? 4. How convenient that Stormbreaker (a very new weapon) is now the key to Gor making it to eternity!
Overall, the movie felt like a bad joke. The fight scenes (my favorite part, typically) were subpar, the comedy wasn’t there, and the bit about Stormbreaker being jealous snd treating Thor’s weapons as ex lovers was just cringeworthy. Unfunny.
